Baobab

africa_organics_baobab

Baobab trees are found across equatorial Africa and can live for a thousand years. There have been individual trees that are over 2000 years old. Common names for the baobab include monkey-bread tree, upside-down tree, and cream of tartar tree. Baobabs store water in the trunk (up to 120,000 litres or 32,000 US gallons) to endure harsh drought conditions.

The fruit of the baobabs is one of their distinguishing features. It is large, oval to round, and berry-like in most species. It has a dry, hard outer shell of variable thickness.

Africa Organics harvest the fallen fruit sustainably from the wild and use an extract of the fruit to deliver prebiotics and anti-oxidants.
